My Personal Experience with Relationships
My experience goes beyond my formal training to relationship experience. I have been married, divorced, and remarried a second time. I have experienced the excitement of marriage, the pain of divorce, the struggle with self evaluation, and the challenges of learning the relationship skills I needed to heal. I was able to develop a healthy relationship with my wife through ownership, accountability, and learning to be vulnerable with her. This in turn helped me to learn to be more in tune with her needs. Skills such as reflective listening, communication, attending, social cues, empathy, problem solving, and conflict resolution are among the tools I was challenged to apply in my own relationship.
These skills were acquired while navigating a challenging relationship with my former spouse, child support cases, and life style adjustments following the stress of litigations, the pains of child estrangement, and the limits of financial culpability. I can truly say with God all things are possible because it was Him that helped me through these challenges along with many people that poured into my life to keep me on top. I believe my experience has lead me to insights that are irreplaceable when it comes to assisting others in their journey towards the skills they need to achieve their healthy relationship goals. I have not only walked the journey of discovering skills and applying them for others. I have had to do so for myself.
